This is why Marcelo Bielsa was at Manchester City last week
Leeds United fans flocked to social media through the week at Marcelo Bielsa was spotted at the Etihad Stadium.
Was there a new signing? With Yangel Herrera being one of those linked with Elland Road throughout the summer.
It turns out that wasn’t the case at all, with no talks or scouting seemingly happening from El Loco first-hand.
Phil Hay has been questioned on the matter, and shared the exact reason why Bielsa was in Manchester.
Writing in an Athletic Q&A on Friday afternoon, Hay quashed those theories immediately with his response.
“Bielsa was at the Premier League managers meeting,” he wrote.

Shame.
There is always a big shockwave of excitement when seeing your manager turn up at the ground of the Premier League champions.
Questions were everywhere – was he with an agent and player? Who could they be? It turns out, nobody in the end.
It was likely just a security detail and one of his own team as they discussed wider matters across the division heading into another year.
Bielsa is close with Pep Guardiola, and surely only a phone call away if he was ever needing to get in close contact, so we wouldn’t worry about this one too much if we’re interested in Herrera, for example.
El Loco is happy to leave the transfer work to Victor Orta and his team, it would be time to get excited if we saw them at a ground, rather than Bielsa himself.
