Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has singled out Leeds United when questioned on work-ethic in the Premier League this season.
After being questioned on their upcoming clash with Burnley, Smith admitted that the Whites are the only team to out-run his side in this campaign.
Marcelo Bielsa is known for his tough approach to training, and every single one of his players have spoken about their physical improvements.
Smith claimed that every team demands a high work-ethic, but that hasn’t stopped them all by being run into the ground by Leeds.
“There’s not many teams that are going to out-run us this season,” he told Birmingham Live on Tuesday.
“Leeds have been the exception. I think they’ve out-run everybody at the moment. The work ethic of my team is going to be just as important.”
That night at Villa Park is one of the best the Whites have had since they returned to the Premier League, as they easily dismantled the in-form team of the division at that time.
Leeds are still physically performing, but the results aren’t coming with that – which is becoming a big concern.
It means nothing if the Whites out-run teams if they can’t put away their chances and take home three points to join that stat.
Chelsea and West Ham both ran more than 5km over their season average against the Whites, which is proof they are bringing the best out of teams [Leeds Live].
They didn’t win those games though, and although Smith admitting Leeds are the “exception” is big praise, but we must start replicating the end result of that Villa clash more often.
