Super Computer predicts Leeds United Premier League position after Brentford draw

Leeds United have been handed a 15 per cent chance of relegation from the Premier League after their 2-2 draw against Brentford on Sunday.

The Whites started the game strongly and led comfortably at the break.

However, once Kalvin Phillips was taken off, they needed a Patrick Bamford stoppage-time winner to seal the draw for them.

American pollster FiveThirtyEight have crunched the numbers on their Super Computer and have predicted that the Whites will end up with 43 points and in 16th place.

Can do better?

They have factored in form, fixtures and also injuries, which explains why Phillips’ absence could see the Whites drop more points.

He has been one of their best players since promotion and his impact on this side cannot be stated enough.

Marcelo Bielsa has moved him to a deep-lying playmaker from a box-to-box midfielder and has also deployed him at centre-back on a number of occasions.

However, even if he’s out for two months, Leeds must finish higher than 16th.

Anything under 50 points will be seen as a failure and may make Bielsa ponder whether or not he wants to stay at the club.

It’s important that the club defer from the norm and make signings in January to keep this side comfortably afloat.

A new midfielder is imperative and possible another striker given Patrick Bamford’s injury concerns.

Goals have dried up at the club and it remains to be seen what Bielsa’s plan is to get out of this mess.
