Leeds United want to sign Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Leeds United are reportedly keen on bringing Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey to Elland Road in January.

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, the Whites can only do a loan in the winter and then discuss possibilities of signing him permanently in the summer.

It is understood that the Turin giants are keen to get the high-earning 30-year-old off their wage bill in the January transfer window.

Good move?

Ramsey was an extremely intelligent and sharp attacking midfielder in his heyday in the Premier League.

He was ideal in Arsene Wenger’s system, making late runs into the box from midfield, making himself very hard to mark.

However, these performances were not consistent over the course of the season as he suffered plenty of injuries throughout his Arsenal career.

Despite being labelled a “phenomenal” player [James Benge, CBS Sports]  in 2019, few would use the same word to describe him today.

Since going to Italy, his career has taken a massive hit and he’s not the fearful midfielder that he once was.

Given how energetic Marcelo Bielsa likes his players to be, Ramsey would struggle to match the pace of this system and would not be the best fit for Leeds.

Also, given his age and injury record, it’s unlikely that Victor Orta will advance negotiations for him.

Leeds must go for someone younger and more energetic who would fit into that number 8 position that Bielsa has been looking for since the last summer.
