Stuart McCall has insisted that Ryan Kent is the one player Rangers can’t afford to lose with Leeds United interested this summer.
After missing out twice after promotion, the Sun have reported that the Whites are preparing a third bid of up to £15million.
Sky Sports pundit McCall believes that Kent has the ability to do it all in the final third, and is perfect for any side in European competitions.
Speaking to Sky Sports, McCall claimed that the Scottish champions simply can’t afford to lose Kent in the summer with the Whites circling.
“Wow,” he said.
“I suppose you’d look at the top end of the park. In tight games, European games when somebody can do something different, and isolate players and go by them, it would be Ryan Kent.
“He’s the one standout attacking-wise that can do something, left foot, right foot, score goals, create goals. When you’re looking to go breakdown teams or hit on the counter, Ryan Kent is terrific at doing that and he would be a big loss.”
For Marcelo Bielsa to stay interested after two rejected bids, there has to be immense talent in Kent, which could explain the reemergence of this interest.
Out wide is a clear area that we need to strengthen in, with Helder Costa and Ian Poveda needing to show more in the Premier League.
Kent would be battling Jack Harrison and Raphinha to start at Elland Road, and the quest of bringing European football back to West Yorkshire could be an attractive proposition.
The 24-year-old has been involved in seven goals in his 12 European appearances and is exactly the type of player Leeds should be targeting.
McCall insisting that Kent is the one player Rangers can’t afford to lose could be proof that it could be harder than anyone thinks to secure his services, time will tell.
