Steve McManaman believes Leeds United fans lost trust in Jesse Marsch
Steve McManaman believes that Leeds United fans are not on Jesse Marsch’s side after what he noticed against Aston Villa.
The BT Sport pundit was on punditry for the Premier League world feed as the Whites suffered a 3-0 defeat against Steven Gerrard’s men on Thursday (March 10).
It was his second defeat in as many games in charge of the club and McManaman believes he has a major job on his hand to win over the Elland Road faithful.
He said, “They’d [Leeds fans] rather go down fighting like they played under Bielsa rather than a whimper what we’ve seen today.
“He’s [Marsch] got to win over the crowd. They’re clearly not on his side. It’s like he’s already losing their trust.”
Succeeding Bielsa was never going to be easy, especially in the manner in which it happened.
All Leeds fans would’ve wanted to give him a proper farewell and savoured what was going to be his final game in charge.
After what he’s done for the club and the city that was the least that they could do.
However, the abrupt sacking left a sour taste in their mouths and his successor was always going to be scrutinised with extremely high standards.
Even though it’s two games, Marsch hasn’t really shown why he’s the man to keep Leeds in charge.
There have been structural changes but in the final third, the team have been found wanting.
