Steve Bruce shares Crycensio Summerville and Jack Clarke verdicts in Leeds United v Sunderland
Steve Bruce has hailed Crysencio Summerville as the best player on the pitch as Leeds United drew 0-0 with Sunderland at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
The game started slowly between the two sides but the Black Cats were able to frustrate the Elland Road faithful while Leicester also dropped points in the race for the Championship title with a 1-0 loss at Millwall.
This theme continued throughout the game but Summerville and, according to Bruce, Jack Clarke were still able to show their quality throughout.
The former Sunderland boss was talking on Sky Sports News (9 April, 08:27 pm) and picked the pair out for specific praise.
He said: “Crysencio Summerville is the brightest player on the pitch.
“The boy Clarke is a threat down the left-hand side. He’s one of these intriguing ones, I think he can go and play at a higher level. He is the one threat they’ve got.”
How did Crycensio Summerville perform v Sunderland?
With the game being quiet to begin with, it was always likely that certain star players would stand out for each side.
This is exactly what happened as Summervile and former Leeds man, Clarke shone amongst the rest in the opening exchanges.
The Sunderland man may have felt that he should have scored as he reached a cross but miss-timed his jump to head well wide. Summerville also had his chances, such as a free kick which drifted narrowly wide early on in the second half.
This is as good as the chances got for either player and the game drifted away from Leeds in the end.
According to FotMob, the Dutchman registered 78 touches of the ball and went on to create the most chances of the match with three. He was let down by his shooting which saw him have one effort blocked and his free kick go wide.
To have so much attacking firepower on the pitch, Farke will be frustrated his side haven’t come away with all three points. Especially with Leicester City losing.
