Stan Collymore takes big swipe at Leeds in now-deleted Twitter post

Stan Collymore has taken a big swipe at Leeds United in a now-deleted Twitter post after the successful return to the Premier League.

NOW Sport asked their followers if the Whites were the best-ever side to be promoted to the top-flight from the Championship.

Collymore appeared to take offence to that question, sharing examples of why Leeds were actually nowhere near that accolade.

Writing on his personal Twitter account late on Monday evening, Collymore responded to the claim which ended abruptly.

“Finished third, score 72 goals, win 22 games, single number losses, +29 goal difference, inflict the champions first home loss in a year and score seven away in one game, then let’s talk,” he wrote.

“Geordie’s finished third too when they were promoted. Embarrassing question.”

It is great to see that pundits and some people still can’t fully accept this newfound success at Elland Road, even when the exposure has nothing to do with us.

NOW Sports will have been expecting responses from Premier League fans, but instead, Collymore couldn’t keep his nose out of it.

Openly a huge Aston Villa follower, it must be hard for Collymore to see one of their biggest rivals climb above them in the table; especially after they were tipped for Europe and other huge things.

We are well and truly keeping our feet on the ground, but it makes us laugh when others can’t simply scroll past a piece of praise for Marcelo Bielsa’s men without finding it offensive.

Collymore can’t accept it, and Leeds finishing above Villa would simply make him even angrier next month; it is a high possibility.
