Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips saw his summer end in disappointment on Monday as England lost to Italy in the EURO 2020 final.

The Yorkshire Pirlo started every single game for the Three Lions and picked up huge applause throughout the tournament.

Marcelo Bielsa will have been watching with a smile on his face, as Phillips continued to press every last ball in extra-time at Wembley.

Leeds United

Stan Collymore was one of those left blown away by Phillips after his breakthrough tournament at international level.

Writing on his personal Twitter account after being at Wembley for the game, the former Liverpool man singled out the Leeds star as his Player of the Tournament.

"England is a happy place where players now feel a part of the squad and have fun alongside the work," he wrote.

"Kalvin Phillips, my England player of the tournament."

Standout.

No one was more consistent in an England shirt than Phillips this summer, and it would be hard to find a fan of any club who disagrees.

The Yorkshire Pirlo smashed all of the basics, and ran his socks off in every single game - Jorginho was the only man to cover more distance in the tournament.

Collymore isn't afraid to voice his opinion on Twitter or anywhere else for that matter, and it is brilliant to see him use that to give Phillips his praise.

Last year, the Leeds star was only just earning his first England call-up, and for him to now be an undroppable part of this side is a testament to how hard he has worked.

It may feel rubbish and disappointing at this very moment, but things will start to get better soon, rest up and attack the Premier League with everything you've got.
