Frank Lampard left thrilled by Kalvin Phillips for England
England crashed to defeat on Monday evening disappointment, but we couldn’t be prouder of Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips.
In his first-ever major tournament, the Yorkshire Pirlo starred and helped guide his country to their first major final in over 50 years.
Gareth Southgate handed him a huge role too, only taking him off in one game, and that was once the job was done over Ukraine.
Frank Lampard has had a sketchy past with the Whites, to say the least.
The former Chelsea and Derby man was watching and covering the game for the BBC, and even he couldn’t help himself.
“Kalvin Phillips has been brilliant, but he does this for Leeds too.”
“Show me some contact, yes.”
Phillips was superb yet again in the final and deserves every ounce of credit.
Harry Kane is the main man for his country, but despite playing up-front, the one man who was pressing Italy’s defence all night was our main man.
Running over 15km in the game, Phillips finished second in the distance covered charts and certainly made a name for himself yet again.
Marcelo Bielsa has certainly created a monster in midfield, and we count ourselves lucky and blessed to call him our own.
We know it might hurt now, but we couldn’t be prouder of the player Phillips has become, and now it is time for that well-earned rest and break.
The World Cup comes next, and it is around the corner next year – something Phillips will already have his eyes set on, bring it on.
