Stan Collymore: Mauricio Pochettino would be exciting Marcelo Bielsa replacement at Leeds

Stan Collymore has insisted that Mauricio Pochettino would be an exciting replacement for Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United.

El Loco is currently in the third year of his spell at Elland Road but works on one-year rolling contracts so could leave in any summer.

Collymore believes that Pochettino would turn Bielsa’s style into a “pragmatic” one of his own and can work well with small squads.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Collymore responded to a Leeds fan calling for Pochettino next at Elland Road.

“I’d be very excited if he turned up at Elland Road,” he wrote.

“Proven track record in player development, would take on Bielsa ball to a pragmatic new level, does well with relatively smaller squads.

“I like the sound of it. Very exciting potentially.”

Get it done.

Wow, wouldn’t this be an amazing appointment for the Whites?

Bielsa has transformed the club at every level since arriving three years ago, and we are only in the Premier League due to him and his ability to improve these players.

Given El Loco only signs one-year rolling contracts at Elland Road, they will be evaluated every single summer and his exit could come at any time.

Even if he informed Andrea Radrizzani that he didn’t want to continue, surely he would help find the next man and give his recommendations.

Pochettino is currently at Paris Saint-Germain and if that doesn’t work out, Bielsa would surely have a little word with one of his prodigies.

It would be the perfect appointment, but right now, we’re happy with Bielsa and everything he has done for us all, long may that continue.
