Sources in Germany have told Tim Thornton that they are confident that Leeds United will seal a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance.
The Sky Sports journalist shared that the Whites will be holding talks over the French midfielder today (Monday) as a move gets closer.
Fabrizio Romano first reported that Leeds had offered £18million for Cuisance, who has already agreed personal terms at Elland Road.
Thornton admitted that he expects Cuisance to be the first of two new signings in West Yorkshire before next week’s deadline.
“Sources in Germany are quite confident this deal will happen,” he said during Transfer Talk.
“I am expecting talks to take place today, what’s interesting though is that Leeds are saying absolutely nothing on this, other than the fact that we heard from Marcelo Bielsa last week, who said it was likely that Leeds will bring two more signings in.
“This, I expect to be the first of those.”
Romano, who first broke the news of this move, went on to claim that Cuisance has told Munich he wants to play more – something he must have been guaranteed at Elland Road.
Phil Hay has detailed that Leeds want another midfielder and winger brought in and that Cuisance is a major target for the club – as the deal appears to be close to completion.
Now that sources in Germany are confident this will happen, it appears that Leeds are closing in on their man – with the fee the only remaining hurdle.
If Leeds have guaranteed more minutes in West Yorkshire, it appears that one of Mateusz Klich or Pablo Hernandez may need to be sacrificed in midfield, with Bielsa set for a selection headache – not often we have had to say that.
