Ben Parker has claimed that Leeds United youngster Joe Gelhardt will be knocking on the door of the first-team in no time this season.
The under-23s were in action against Sunderland on Monday afternoon, cruising to a 3-1 victory with Sam Greenwood scoring a hattrick against his former club.
LUTV pundit, Parker, was full of compliments for Gelhardt though, who arrived from Wigan last month as he continued to catch the eye alongside Greenwood.
Parker claimed that Gelhardt will be in the first-team set up with Marcelo Bielsa very soon, following the likes of Jamie Shackleton and Robbie Gotts.
“A thing of beauty,” Parker described his performance on LUTV.
“We’re going to have a good time this season watching Joe Gelhardt with the under-23s.
“I’m hoping we’re not going to watch him too many times, I think performances like he has been doing so far, he’ll be knocking on the door for the first time.”
Gelhardt was once again superb in the final third on Monday, and alongside Greenwood made things happen for the Whites.
The electric forward continued his form from the 2-2 draw with Wolves last week in which he found the net and scored his first goal for the club.
His goal was superb too, twisting and turning through numerous defenders before smashing the ball in at the near post at Thorp Arch.

Leeds fans have been blown away with the youngster in every game he has featured in since his arrival and it is clear that he could easily make the jump to the first-team.
Bielsa won’t be afraid to give his academy players a chance in the Premier League squad if they impress, and Gelhardt is certainly doing that right now.
