Some things are much bigger than football, and Bamba’s unexpected death is certainly one of those things. The clash in the Welsh capital gives both sets of fans to pay their respects.
While he was much more well-known for his time with the Bluebirds, Bamba was a much-loved figure among all fans in football, not just those teams in the Championship.
Leeds and Cardiff have formed somewhat of a strange rivalry over the years, with meetings often filled with goals, but fans have already set aside their differences to pay tribute to a special man.
Bamba had so much more to offer to the footballing world, having been appointed head coach at Adanaspor this summer, so it was a crying shame to see him pass so soon.
The Championship clash at the Cardiff City Stadium is set to be an emotional one, with both sets of fans keen to pay their respects to the cult legend, with emotions pouring out from social media already.
Those arriving at the game later will be met by a very special tribute, not just outside the ground, but also inside with pictures of Bamba alongside players of both clubs, smiling and doing what he did best.
