Shearer: You can understand why so many people are talking about Raphinha
Alan Shearer has delivered his verdict on the Leeds United player he says everyone is talking about – Raphinha.
Raphinha has turned heads in the Premier League since his £17m move from Rennes and Shearer has said you can understand why as he delivers “most weeks”.
Talking on Premier League Productions (Saturday, 5.20pm), Shearer said, “He can put a shift in. But it will be disrespectful to say that’s all it is. There is so much more to him.
“There is the ability to go at players and to go past players. To score and to create.
“You can understand why there are so many people talking about him, and talking about his ability, because he’s doing this most weeks now.”

Raphinha seems like the total package. He has the ability to make something happen in an instant.
He’s got the skills, the pace and the passing to unlock defences, and he’s improved our set-pieces immeasurably.
He’s also got something that can’t be taught – passion and the right attitude.
He expects huge standards from his teammates and he’s not scared to let them know if they fall short.
He also wants to win every game. The shot of him slumped against the advertising boards after the defeat to Villa summed up how all the Leeds fans were feeling at the final whistle – dejected and fed up.
That’s exactly what we want to see from our players, as long as it doesn’t spill over into negativity.
We’re convinced that Bielsa can make him even better as well, and if Raphinha is convinced of that then we shouldn’t have a big job on our hands to convince him to stay past this summer.
