Slaven Bilic responds as Leeds go top in ‘significant’ weekend in C’Ship
West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is remaining calm despite Leeds United leapfrogging his side to go top of the Championship on Saturday.
The Baggies drew at Swansea whilst the Whites made it five wins with clean sheets in a row seeing off Huddersfield 2-0 at Elland Road.
Bilic claimed that doesn’t matter even though he would love his side to be sitting on top in this promotion race with nine left to play.
Bilic admitted that his side’s draw in Wales was a good point and remained defiant saying his side were not panicking after the results came in.
“I would love to be in top spot but, no, it doesn’t worry me,” he told Birmingham Live.
“The results, apart from Leeds and Brentford, they were okay. With Fulham and with Forest, because that affects your motivation of the point at this stage of the season.
“Considering all that, the bigger picture, this was a good point. We have one less game go. The gap is a very balanced one. The gap is significant, the gap is big enough for you not to panic.”
Leeds now have a 97% chance of promotion to the Premier League according to Nate Silver, a prediction expert on FiveThirtyEight.
Now, we all know not to get ahead of ourselves but it is hard not to imagine an ending to the season that doesn’t end in promotion at Elland Road.
There is a real belief that the players have learn from last season, and even Bilic must be fearing Leeds at this moment in time with how fearful they have been in the past month.
