Sky Sports pundit slams Max Wober in Leeds United draw v Brighton

Andy Walker was not pleased with Max Wober nearly costing Leeds United the game against Brighton at Elland Road on 11 March.

With the score at 2-2, the Austrian threw himself to the ground in hopes to win the ball even though there was no chance to get to it.

Danny Welbeck easily skipped past the challenge and found himself in a glorious goal-scoring position but ended up skying the chance.

Walker, a Sky Sports pundit, was on commentary for the Premier League world feed and said at 16:32, 11/03, “What a dreadful attempted challenge at the edge of the box by Wober. You were sure he was going to find the back of the net.”

Not good

Leeds were lucky to get anything from this game and it’s a good thing that Brighton weren’t clinical as the three points were theirs.

The Whites will take the result but Javi Gracia will know that his performance was nowhere near good enough and he will demand more from his players.

Wober has not enjoyed the best of starts to life in the Premier League and this game was a reminder that if he’s not good enough, he will get punished.

We’re not saying that he was the worst player on the pitch but he certainly could be doing much better than he did.

Junior Firpo’s good performances at left-back mean that Wober’s having to play centrally and we’re sure once Pascal Struijk is fit, he will replace him in the side.

Leeds now travel to Wolves to face them on 18 March before the international break and they’re going to have to improve on the Brighton performance if they want to win.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
