Sky Sports pundit reacts to Pascal Struijk goal in Leeds United v Brighton

Leeds United earned a dramatic 1-1 draw against Brighton on Sunday (15 May) at Elland road and kept their Premier League survival hopes alive.

Just when it felt like the Whites are perilously on the verge of relegation, Pascal Struijk scored an important goal with a header that sealed a crucial point for Jesse Marsch’s side.

Although the fate of the relegation battle doesn’t rest in Leeds’ hands, there is still hope.

Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, while commentating on the game for the Premier League feed (15 May, 92nd minute), was left stunned by the sound levels at Elland Road.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “Wow. The roof has been absolutely raised. Blown off by every other thing you can think of. Unbelievable sound in Elland Road now.

“You cannot discount how important this goal would be if they can hold on.”

Hope

That goal could prove to be the most important goal of the season if Leeds manage to stay up.

Burnley lost 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and Everton too lost 3-2 against Brentford in the Premier League.

Leeds are out of the relegation zone, but they have only one game left to play. They have to win that game and hope Burnley lose their remaining two games.

Everton also could be dragged into the dogfight on the final day if they lose against Crystal Palace at home in their next game.

Once again, Leeds fell behind and had to work extremely hard to find an equaliser.

Joe Gelhardt had gone close early but his persistance was rewarded as he produced a moment of brilliance when he found Struijk on the far post.

The goal left Elland Road faithful in absolute pandemonium in the stands. The scrappy header from the Dutchman means, if Burnley suffer a defeat against Aston Villa, Leeds will have Premier League survival in their own hands on the final day.
