Sky Sports pundit: ‘Overloaded’ Kalvin Phillips could offer Man Utd chances v Leeds
Lewis Jones believes that the “overloaded” Kalvin Phillips could offer Manchester United numerous chances against Leeds United.
The Whites will be looking for revenge from that 6-2 defeat earlier in the season, remaining unbeaten in their hardest run of the season.
Sky Sports pundit, Jones, has insisted that it could be another big afternoon for Scott McTominay, who scored twice in that reverse fixture.
Writing in his Sky Sports column, Jones believes the Scottish international could be a banker for significant chances at Elland Road.
“Leeds remain a fantastic team to watch but boy do they offer up space for the opposition, especially in central areas where Kalvin Phillips regularly gets overloaded,” he said.
“As seen in the corresponding fixture, Scott McTominay, who scored twice, isn’t afraid of pulling the trigger. Of course, there’s also the added bonus of McTominay being strong in the air – an area where Leeds are significantly vulnerable.
“In what should be an end-to-end encounter, McTominay looks a solid wager to register a minimum of two shots on Leeds’ goal.”
Smarter.
The Whites are much better now and have learned from their mistakes made earlier in the season, especially at Old Trafford.
Marcelo Bielsa is also helped by having his first-choice defence available to him, with the likes of Diego Llorente cementing his spot and proving his class as each game passes.
That has also helped Phillips massively, as he isn’t being dragged around the pitch as much, something that should come through against Manchester United.
The Yorkshire Pirlo will be critical in keeping the likes of Bruno Fernandes quiet in this huge clash, and with Stuart Dallas much more familiar with his midfield role, McTominay won’t be as successful this time around.
It is lazy to suggest the exact same thing will happen twice, and maybe Sky Sports and their so-called expert didn’t have the time to come up with a fresh prediction.
