Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards worried about Leeds United goal difference
Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards feels that Leeds United’s -34 goal difference could be crucial in Jesse Marsch’s side’s survival hopes.
Leeds succumbed to a 4-0 defeat against Premier League leaders Manchester City on Saturday evening.
Richards feels Leeds United’s dismal goal difference could be a fatal blow in their relegation battle.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the clash with the League Leaders, Richards said: “You look at Burnley on -15 goal difference and it’s not great.
“But then you look at Leeds on -34 and that could be all the difference.”
He added: “It gives you that little bit of breathing space if both sides do lose the rest of their games.”
Who has the best chance?
Leeds have been in good form of late, with the defeat to City their first in six Premier League matches.
The expected defeat has been compounded by Burnley’s recent rival.
Two late goals from the Clarets have made life extremely tough for Jesse Marsch’s men, whose fate is now out of their hands.
The Whites sit five points above Everton, however, the Toffees have two games in hand.
Given the Toffee’s form this season, six points from those two games are far from a formality.
Burnley’s form has almost turned the relegation battle into a two-horse race, with all eyes watching Everton’s clash with Chelsea at Goodison Park.
A win for the Toffees would pile on pressure firmly on Jesse Marsch’s men.
Leeds will be hoping Chelsea don’t rotate their starting eleven too much and pick up a positive result.
Thomas Tuchel has been rotating his squad with their league position all but secured and an FA cup final against Liverpool on the horizon.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
