Sky Sports pundit Darren Bent delivers Leeds United relegation verdict after Everton v Burnley

Darren Bent believes that Everton’s loss against Burnley has benefitted Leeds United in their fight against relegation this season.

The Toffees lost 3-2 to the Clarets which now sees the Whites have a healthy lead from the bottom four.

Everton could’ve closed the gap down to two points, but are now five behind Leeds and right in the relegation fight.

Speaking on PL Today by Premier League Productions, Bent, a Sky Sports pundit, said, “I don’t think they’ll go down and got their big players coming up. They got a wake up call this season. Last night’s result was also good for them.”

Staying up

The Whites have enjoyed a decent return of late so it makes sense to predict that they stay up.

Two of their wins have obviously been fortunate injury-time winners but that’s irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Jesse Marsch will take the three points no matter how they come and he would be glad to see teams below Leeds dropping points.

Arguably, two more wins should be enough to keep the Whites in the Premier League.

They could get one of those two when they take on Watford this weekend as that game is yet another relegation six pointer.

There are no excuses for not winning that game and hopefully, they can get closer to the line with each point they accumulate.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
