Sky Sports journalist quashes Bayern Munich interest rumours in Leeds United star Raphinha
Leeds United have been handed a much-needed boost as Bayern Munich have been ruled out of the race to sign Raphinha, according to Florian Plettenburg.
The Brazilian was originally linked to the German champions on Christmas Eve by TNT Sports in his native country but their interest has gone away.
Most encouragingly for Leeds fans is that Sky Sports Germany’s Plettenburg claims that the lack of interest is not just in January, but they don’t want the 25-year-old in the summer either.
Referring to Raphinha and Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek, Plettenburg tweeted: “Both players are definitely no topic for #FCBayern – neither in this transfer window nor in summer.”
A Creative Genius
There is no hiding from the fact that Leeds have been below par this season as they sit 16th in the Premier League, teetering above the relegation zone.
And while a victory over Burnley eased some nerves for supporters, they still need more to keep their hopes of another season in the promised land alive.
Raphinha though has been the one shining light amid a rather dark season as the Brazilian has taunted defenders from every Premier League club with his trickery and direct running.
With every top-class performance, the 25-year-old’s price tag has increased and he has garnered interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
But for the club to kick on, Raphinha has to stay. Especially while the team performances have been lacking amid injuries and COVID-19.
But when Marcelo Bielsa has a full contingent of players at his disposal again, selling Raphinha for massive money could be the catalyst for a wave of new talent that can take Leeds United to the next level.
