Sky pundit predicts England squad for EURO 2021, includes 'exceptional' Leeds duo
Danny Mills has predicted that Leeds United duo Ben White and Kalvin Phillips will represent England at the European Championships in 2021.
The Sky Sports pundit was asked to share the squad he expects Gareth Southgate to pick for the major tournament which has been delayed for a year because of the current coronavirus suspension.
Mills picked White and Phillips as the only two players to feature who aren’t currently playing in the Premier League with their clubs in England.
The former Leeds defender claimed the Whites duo could solve problems that Southgate has in certain areas of his squad.
“I can see Mason Holgate and Ben White coming in,” he wrote.
“White has been the best defender in the Championship this season, he is exceptional. He will be playing in the Premier League next season.

“There isn’t a great deal of English holding midfield players around, and I feel Kalvin Phillips will be in the England squad after a year in the Premier League. I cannot see him not included in 2021.”
It has already been reported that Southgate has been at Elland Road this season to watch both Phillips and White, and although that wasn’t the best of games against Sheffield Wednesday – he will have been impressed elsewhere.
Phillips has completed more tackles per game than England captain Jordan Henderson this season according to WhoScored, and the interest in both him and White prove that they are both capable of playing at a higher level.
With the European competition suspended for another year, it gives both Phillips and White the potential to get a year of Premier League action under their belts, and who knows? It could be with Leeds.
