Simon Jordan shares ‘Huge’ Premier League verdict on Leeds United

Simon Jordan has insisted a club the size of Leeds United belongs in the Premier League despite the long period they have spent outside of it.

The former Crystal Palace owner recalled being intimidated by the atmosphere at Elland Road whenever he went there, calling it one of the best around.

Jordan then doubled down that he would rather see Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League than their Championship rivals Southampton, who are also fighting for second place.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [14 February, 10:57], Jordan shared: “I’ve always maintained the view that one of the most intimidating grounds is Elland Road. One of the best atmospheres is Elland Road.

“The idea that Leeds United deserve to be in the Premier League, this is a club of significant stature that were out of the Premier League for 17 years. It took a long time to get them back.

“It’s a huge club and the scale of that club should warrant being in the Premier League. As a football person, with all due respect to the other teams, I’d rather see Leeds United in the Premier League than Southampton.”

Leeds United deserve to play Premier League football

Since Daniel Farke took over at Elland Road, his side have played some fantastic football, recorded some fantastic wins, and are now putting together a run of form that, if they can keep it up, should see them promoted straight back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

If they get promoted, it will be because they deserve it and have earned it with their play under Farke’s leadership, not because of any divine right to be there, and the boss will deserve all the plaudits if he can take them straight back up.

The race for promotion is hotly contested, and while Leicester are widely expected to continue their dominance and win the league, second place is still up for grabs with Leeds and Southampton, in particular, pushing for it.

Ipswich, meanwhile, have dropped off slightly of late, but remain in the fight despite the strength of squads at the disposal of the recently relegated Premier League trio.
