Simon Jordan and Jim White clash live on talkSPORT as Leeds £370m Premier League development discussed

Leeds United have been name-checked as Jim White and Simon Jordan discuss the latest developments in relation to Everton’s financial fair play charge.

A number of Premier League clubs are believed to have requested the Toffees’ charges to be “fast-tracked” to ensure any punishment is administered this season (Sky Sports, 17 May). The club are under investigation due to their £370-plus losses over the last three years.

Talking on talkSPORT on Thursday morning (18 May), the duo clashed over when is the right time to charge the Merseyside club.

“We’ve got Leeds, Southampton, Leicester and Forest saying, quite rightly, why isn’t this tied up,” said White (talkSPORT, 18 May).

Jordan responded: “No, it doesn’t work that way. If you want these rules changed. Off you go you 20 football clubs and vote for it.

“If you want rules changed, it’s their gift. Richard Masters and his gang work for them. He exists because of them, his job is to fulfil the outcomes they want.

“Good luck with it, because they won’t want it because they’ll be on the other side of the argument.”

White responded: “It’s simple if Everton get a points deduction next season would that be fair on the three clubs that go down in the next couple of weeks?”

Jordan: “Yes, because those are the rules.”

White added: “Unplug him.”

Not a good look

The timing of the request from the group of Premier League clubs doesn’t make for good viewing. It’s purely because of their league position that they’re concerned about Everton’s financial situation. If they’re that concerned about when the charge should be heard, then why haven’t they brought up Manchester City’s current issues?

For Leeds, this has come at a really bad time. All the focus should be on the club securing its Premier League status. The upcoming clash against West Ham United is a must-win for Sam Allardyce’s side. They can ill-afford to drop points, particularly with Everton having a favourable trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The performances against Manchester City and Newcastle have been much improved and it’s now absolutely vital that Leeds turn their promising displays into three points. West Ham are now safe and have nothing to play for, which could open the door for the Whites at the weekend.

In other Leeds United news, Karen Carney has had her say on the Whites’ relegation as she’s issued a damning verdict on Sam Allardyce’s men after what she saw recently.
