San Francisco 49ers investment not guaranteed for Leeds-Elland Road expansion

Leeds United have confirmed more fresh investment from the 49ers Enterprise in the past week.

The American consortium now controls 44% of the Whites, edging closer to majority stakeholder status.

Andrea Radrizzani has welcomed the party along with open arms, with their expertise set to help the redevelopment of Elland Road.

Leeds Live have shared the latest on those plans, and they aren’t expected to change any time soon in West Yorkshire.

“While there is no guarantee this latest tranche of investment by 49ers Enterprises is linked to the planned expansion of Elland Road, the method in which funds have been raised is one of the most common for that type of project,” they wrote.

Elland Road isn’t in the best of states.

Bringing the West Stand to the same level as the East opposite would be a major upgrade and something everyone would welcome.

The only problem is the time it would take, it would likely see matchday revenue cut down while it was being built.

But, after that, the rewards would be huge.

There would never be the question of would it be filled? That is guaranteed given our amazing support and more people need to be given the chance to experience a matchday in West Yorkshire.

Taking the capacity past 45,000 would be a huge step, but it would require the Whites to avoid relegation this season.

It hasn’t been the best of starts, and because of that, it may take more than a year and more 49ers investment before any development is given the green light.
