San Francisco 49ers admire Leeds United target Brenden Aaronson

There is no San Francisco 49ers angle to Leeds United chasing RB Salzburg attacker Brenden Aaronson, according to Beren Cross.

The Whites were linked with the American attacker all January and even had tabled offers to sign him.

However, the Austrian club decided that they weren’t willing to let go of the player.

Asked whether the interest in Aaronson was coming from the 49ers, Cross replied, on his LeedsLive Q&A, “No, I have heard that theory, but I have been told there is no 49ers angle to the Aaronson chase. They like him as a footballer regardless of his nationality.”

Snap him up

Leeds desperately need to sign an attacking midfielder in the summer and Aaronson appears to be their desired target.

Even if Marcelo Bielsa leaves, the 21-year-old is believed to be liked by the hierarchy at Elland Road.

Add to that, even the 49ers are admirers of the player so we will be surprised if they don’t pursue his services once again at the end of the season.

He’s got age on his side and is still a relatively unknown commodity which means that he could be snapped up on the cheap.

Hopefully, he does not do too well in the coming months as that could put him on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.

Should that happen, as was the case with Rodrigo de Paul, it may be nigh on impossible for the Whites to secure his services.
