Sam Lee: Leeds United clash v Manchester City still on as COVID rumours swirl

Rumours have spread around social media this morning that Leeds United could see their Premier League clash against Manchester City postponed.

It was suggested on a City Fan Forum “Blue Moon” that the home side have five positive cases of COVID-19 within their camp.

Sam Lee of The Athletic has shared that nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and the game is still going ahead as things stand.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Lee responded to concerned fans regarding the possible postponement.

“Not as far as I know,” he wrote.

Going ahead.

We believe that rumours such as this one will continue to happen every single week now that the Omicron variant has appeared.

Games are dropping left, right and centre, with the Premier League really struggling to get to grips with positive cases.

Postponements would likely suit Leeds given their injuries to the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Patrick Bamford.

Marcelo Bielsa would never welcome that though, he wants to be playing games consistently, and would never take the easy way out.

It is bound to be a huge task at The Etihad, but if they do have some of their big names missing, it could level the playing field slightly.

We all know how social media works, though, rumours can literally mean nothing and as things stand, it looks as though this is exactly the case.

Bring it on.
