Sam Allardyce new favourite for Leeds United manager job after Javi Gracia internal talks held – Fabrizio Romano

Sam Allardyce is the new favourite for the Leeds United managerial job after internal talks were held about Javi Gracia on Monday (1 May), according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites only remain out of the relegation zone on goal difference after their 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday (30 April), with a record-breaking 23 goals conceded in April alone.

Taking to Twitter on Monday evening (1 May), Guardian journalist Romano shared that the former England manager was now the new favourite for the job at Elland Road.

Leeds United

“Leeds could sack head coach Javi Gracia after internal talks on Monday; it looks the most likely solution as direct discussions took place in the last 24 hours,” he wrote.

“Sam Allardyce, favorite candidate to become the new manager.”

Strong and stable

With four games of the season remaining, Leeds United need a manager bounce, and fast.

Big Sam fits the bill to perfection and would certainly get an instant reaction from this squad if he were to get the job in the Elland Road dugout.

What the Whites need is somebody to sure up their defence, possibly give them some harsh truths and take the game plan back to basics.

Allardyce would hopefully introduce all of the above if he were to agree to the terms he was offered.

However, the 68-year-old will need a favourable package to even consider taking the job, with so much at risk and the fixtures not looking great.

A trip to Manchester City followed by a home game against Newcastle wouldn’t be an easy start for any manager, but if any man can navigate Leeds to a great escape, it’s Big Sam.

Gracia’s time looks spent, and Allardyce could well be the club’s saving grace.
