Ryan Edmondson reacts on Twitter after sealing Leeds United loan exit
Leeds United have confirmed today (4 January) that young striker Ryan Edmondson has joined Port Vale on loan.
The 20-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Fleetwood Town.
After making 17 appearances for them, the loan move has been cut short. He has now joined the League Two side currently in a play-off position.
The youngster has tweeted after sealing the move: “Can’t wait to get going”
Edmondson is a highly-rated young talent, but at the moment he needs to prove himself in the lower leagues.
He is not yet ready for the senior team, and his previous loan move didn’t work according to the plans. He managed to score only twice in nine starts, while another eight appearances have come from the bench.
The youngster won’t be available for Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie at home to Brentford, as he is cup-tied having played for Fleetwood already.
He also had loan spells at Aberdeen and Northampton last season.
Edmondson has made two first-team appearances for Leeds but somehow his progress has been hampered, with injuries also playing a part.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. He has a contract at the club till 2023 and needs to put in a solid performance now to prove he deserves a contract extension at the Yorkshire club.
The Whites are keeping high hopes on him, and the young striker will be hoping to make the best use of this loan spell.
In other Leeds United news, Marcelo Bielsa could be hours away from his first January signing.
