Rodrigo Leeds United exit mooted by Sky Sports pundit amid Elland Road price demands

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson suspects that Leeds United striker Rodrigo will leave Elland Road this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

The Spaniard was Leeds’ top scorer during the 2022/23 season and has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Rodrigo (Cope, 7 June).

Robinson believes the 32-year-old will depart, but insists Leeds will be able to “demand” a price for the striker.

“I suspect that Rodrigo will leave. It will also be interesting to see what happens to Rutter,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“You can only leave if somebody wants you. Or if the valuation is met. It’s not like 2004 when a huge fire sale was going on. The club’s not in a financial situation where they have to sell players. However, they have to cut their cloth accordingly.

“Certain players will have to go and they will go. But actually, Leeds are in a better position where they can keep certain players or demand a price.”

Rodrigo netted 13 times in 31 appearances for Leeds during the 2022/23 season. However, along with a host of players, faces an uncertain future. All will become clear when the club releases its retained list before the end of June.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
