Rodrigo hits back at Agbonlahor over Leeds unhappiness claims
Rodrigo has hit back at Gabriel Agbonlahor after the pundit suggested the Leeds United star was humiliated by manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking to Football Insider this week, Agbonlahor slammed Bielsa for substituting Rodrigo on and off in the 0-0 draw with Chelsea earlier this month.
The outspoken former Aston Villa player said: “I bet [Rodrigo] is very unhappy.”
However, Rodrigo has rubbished any notion he’s unhappy with Leeds and has asserted that he has a great relationship with Bielsa.
Writing on Instagram on Wednesday night, the Spain international said: “I’m not a person to comment on nonsense stories, however in this case I want to make it clear that stories about me wanting to leave Leeds and a bad relationship with Marcelo are false.
“I am very sorry that some people try to misinform our fans – my feelings are the opposite.
“I am happy, focused and working hard to help my teammates to end this great season in the best possible way. I love being at Leeds United, I respect my coach and I identify with this club.
“Come on Leeds.”
Agbonlahor not the only one…
While we fully expect Agbonlahor to spout absolute nonsense about Leeds due to his seeming agenda against the Yorkshire club, there have been others to report that all isn’t well for Rodrigo at Elland Road.
That doesn’t mean there’s any truth in it but Spanish news outlet Fichajes has reported that the ex-Valencia man is unhappy with his role in Yorkshire.
When Leeds made Rodrigo their record signing in the summer, we all expected him to replace Patrick Bamford as the club’s starting striker.
However, Bielsa has stuck with Bamford and his faith in the Englishman has been rewarded with him flying in the Premier League and scoring goals as though he’s spent his entire career doing it in the top-flight.
Rodrigo has had to make to with a deeper role in the midfield due to Bamford’s form and resulting stranglehold on the number nine spot.
Might he want to play as a striker? He could. But we doubt that he’d want to quit Leeds over that when he’s not even a year into his spell in West Yorkshire.
In other Leeds United news, Germany have mocked Ezgjan Alioski after what happened in North Macedonia’s match on Wednesday.
