Germany’s national team has mocked Leeds United left-back Ezgjan Alioski while he played for North Macedonia on Wednesday night.

In the first half of the World Cup qualifying clash between Germany and North Macedonia at Duisburg’s MSV-Arena, Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane wrongfooted Alioski with a nice bit of skill.

Germany’s English-language Twitter account then uploaded the image of Sane beating Alioski, along with the caption: “Ciao-ski”.

He’s no defender…

Let’s face it, Alioski has been turned inside out by a lot of Premier League attackers this season.

While he did play a lot as a left-back under Marcelo Bielsa in the Championship and managed to put in some great displays there, playing against the best of the best in the Premier League has proven a struggle at times.

Alioski has made 27 Premier League appearances this season, scoring two goals in the process which both came in December against Newcastle and West Brom.

Most of the 29-year-old’s game-time for Leeds in the league has been at left-back but there’s definitely a case to be made that the ex-Lugano man is out of his depth there against the stronger Premier League teams.

According to WhoScored, Alioski was once again playing as a left-back on Wednesday night against Germany while wearing the colours of North Macedonia.

Sane is the kind of player who can turn the best of defenders inside out so he must have had an absolute field day against Alioski.

Still, there was no need for that tweet from Germany. Leave the poor man alone.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have paid a registration fee for this 27-year-old player.
