Robyn Cowen reacts to Luis Sinisterra goal in Leeds United loss v Brentford

Luis Sinisterra scored a brilliant goal for Leeds United against Brentford on Saturday (3 September) during their 5-2 defeat in the Premier League.

Robyn Cowen, while commentating on the game for BBC Match of the Day, has hailed the Colombian as “fantastic” for his wonderfully taken goal.

Sinisterra, however, was unfortunate as he gave away a penalty in the first half. It looked fair with naked eyes, but the penalty was given after a long VAR intervention.

“Beautifully taken. That’s a fantastic goal from Luis Sinisterra to get Leeds right back in it at the stroke of the break. Lovely flick over the top of Rico Henry, and the composure to finish,” said Cowen, while commentating on the back for BBC Sport (45 min).

Lessons to learn

The scoreline is probably not a true reflection of the game, although Ivan Toney deserves praise for his brilliant effort during the game.

Leeds were left frustrated by some of the decisions that didn’t go in their favour.

A penalty appeal was wrongly turned down, while the defenders must take the blame for failing to remain compact away from home.

Diego Llorente is an experienced centre-back, and yet some of the mistakes he made are very basic and are not accepted at this level.

Sinisterra joined in the summer window, and he has already made a strong impact. He engineered a brilliant move and produced a superb skill to get the ball away from Henry.

And then he scored with a long-range effort. Even when the score was 3-1 in favour of the hosts, the Whites didn’t give up.

They created some brilliant chances, with Patrick Bamford missing a sitter. Marc Roca eventually made it 3-2. However, two quick goals from the home side took the game away.
