We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that it would be “absolutely amazing” for Leeds United if Marcelo Bielsa committed to a two-year deal – or even more.
A report from Argentinian outlet La Nacion claimed that Bielsa was “very close” to agreeing a new two-year term with the club.
He’s only ever signed 12-month deals with Leeds up to this point and anything more would represent a sizeable – if very welcome – shock.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “I would love it if he signed a two-year deal, it would be absolutely amazing.
“We get to this point every time towards the end of the season because he only does one-year deals and all the talk is about his future.
“I don’t understand why he only works on 12-month deals. You look at the youngsters that he’s bringing in, the foundations that he’s putting down at Leeds.
“I can’t understand why he hasn’t signed anything more than a one-year deal yet.
“I’d love to see him sign a two-year deal. I’d love to see him sign a three-year deal.
“I’d also like to see him as part of the progression plan when he does decide to move on – he’s not going to be here forever.”
It’s incredible how big a part of the club Bielsa has become in the relatively short time he’s been at Elland Road.
It’s impossible to think of the team without seeing the manager and his style of play.
He’s taken unimaginable strides with the players that he’s had and the sky’s the limit for the future, with money available for new players this summer.
A two-year deal would see the Leeds fans dancing in the streets.
