Robert Green was blown away by Mateusz Klich v Newcastle
Robert Green was pleased with how Mateusz Klich combined with Patrick Bamford in the 1-1 draw Leeds United and Newcastle played out on Friday night.
Despite being the better side, the Whites had to settle for a draw and still remain winless after five games into the new season.
However, some of their players put in a good performance, especially Klich, who looked extremely lively in different stages of the game.
He combined well with Patrick Bamford and in the first ten minutes, played a lovely pass into his stride.
The England forward did not manage to take it properly into his stride or else it would have been a goal-scoring opportunity for him.
Discussing it on Premier League’s World Feed, Green, who’s also a pundit at BBC, said, “That was an extravagant pass by Klich. He’s really done well to play it to Bamford, but unfortunately he couldn’t do more with it.”
Klich was at risk of losing his spot in the playing eleven should Leeds have brought in another midfielder.
Since the season has begun, he’s done his job pretty well and not given the manager too much to complain about.
He’s worked tirelessly with and without the ball and Marcelo Bielsa would certainly be pleased with how he’s bounced back after being out of the squad for a few games last season.
The 31-year-old also has the ability to score long rangers.
On commentary for BT Sport 1 last season, Darren Fletcher referred to his goal against Burnley as “excellent”.
We’re hoping that he scores a few screamers this campaign as well as he’s certainly got a special right foot.
