'Go to Leeds on less money' - Savage sends message to players as transfer window set to open

Robbie Savage has admitted it is “great news” that Leeds United are finally back in the Premier League next season.

He also sent out a message to prospective signings saying if he was a player now he’d rather sign for Leeds on less money then play for 10 other clubs in the top-flight.

He said the attraction of working under Bielsa and playing at Elland Road would swing him to sign for Andrea Radrizzani.

Leeds sailed home in the end, finishing with a 10-point gap to West Brom in second after winning their final six fixtures of the season.

Savage claimed that there won’t be many tougher places to visit than Elland Road next season based on his experiences as a player.

“It’s huge news, I think it’s great news for the Premier League as well,” he told William Hill.

“It’s a club with great history, it’s a massive football club. We all know what the atmosphere is like inside Elland Road.

“As a player, going to Elland Road and winning was a great feeling because you knew it would be a very tough game.

“If I was a player right now and had the opportunity to go to Leeds on less money than at 10 other clubs in the Premier League… Personally, with the attraction of Bielsa and the attraction of playing at Elland Road in front of those fans, I’d sign for Leeds.”

Savage went on to praise Marcelo Bielsa for being the mastermind behind all of this success at Elland Road, claiming that he may need five or six signings to succeed in the top-flight.

One area he highlighted was in the final third. We all expect Patrick Bamford to be given the chance next season, but it is clear that he needs support moving forward.

Pablo Hernandez has shined since his return from injury, but it has proved that he may need to be tightly managed in the Premier League.

Another playmaker could be vital, and it looks like that man could be QPR’s Eberechi Eze – the Sun reporting that the Whites are ready to beat Spurs, West Ham and Palace to his signature.

We certainly back that signing, in what could be the start of a very busy summer for Victor Orta and the Whites.

And we agree that Bielsa is a big draw for players.
