Robbie Keane reacts to Leeds United drama at Wolves, sends Luke Ayling message

Robbie Keane has sent Luke Ayling a message after the Leeds United defender tried to replicate his famous celebration during the 4-2 win over Wolves.

The 31-year-old’s header, along with goals from Jack Harrison, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo gave Javi Gracia’s side a valuable victory in the Black Country (18 March).

Ayling’s second-half finish was followed by wild scenes and Keane has since responded to the 31-year-old’s ‘attempt’ at replicating his distinctive celebration.

Replying to Ayling’s latest Instagram post (19 March), Keane sent two clapping hands emojis. The Leeds mainstay responded: “Still trying to master it… give me another year.”

Vital

The win at Wolves was absolutely vital. Gracia’s side were second best for large periods of the first half but somehow found themselves in the lead. The second half had a bit of everything and the Spaniard will be delighted that his side, just about, did enough to secure the three points.

There will be plenty of ups and downs between now and the end of the season. Leeds must enjoy the win over Julen Lopetegui’s side, but not get too carried away. The international break has come at the perfect time but things could quickly turn with a daunting trip to face Arsenal on the horizon.

Leeds

As for Ayling, he’s a player the Leeds boss can rely upon. It wasn’t his best performance at Molineux, but he managed to get on the scoresheet. He’s been Gracia’s go-to option at right back and that looks set to continue moving forward.

Two weeks free from the pressures of Premier League matchdays will be gold dust for the head coach. It’s been a full-blooded start to life at Elland Road and the chance to get to work at Thorp Arch could be essential.
