Monday was a fantastic day for Leeds United fans.

New investment from the 49ers was confirmed, with the US sports giant now owning 37% of the club, up from 22%. That cost them over £50m valuing the club at around £250m.

Then, Andrea Radrizzani confirmed that he was going to open talks with Marcelo Bielsa over a new deal to keep him at Elland Road next season.

As if that wasn’t enough, Leeds nemesis Frank Lampard was sacked by Chelsea.

However, some Leeds fans still found something to complain about.

In his pre-match press conference, Bielsa confirmed the news that Leeds are not expecting any incomings in the final week of the January transfer window.

That was relayed by Athletic journalist Phil Hay.

Some fans are up in arms about this, with some particularly hysterical and predicting that this will lead to Leeds getting relegated.

Let’s look at some of the evidence here.

Leeds are currently on 23 points before the halfway point of the season.

Those same players would somehow have to conspire to win less than 15 points more in the final 20 games of the season to get sucked into the battle at the bottom.

We just don’t think that’s going to happen. Bielsa obviously doesn’t think it’s going to happen or he would have demanded reinforcements.

We think it’s much more sensible to hold with what we’ve got and regroup in the summer – armed with the £50m we’ve got from the San Fran 49ers.

These fans disagree…

Not all fans think like this. One summed up our position perfectly when he said, “At least we know now. Might be unpopular but I’m happy we aren’t messing about and bringing in players. Look at options now and bring them in for the summer. Think we have enough depth.”

And at least we won’t have to put up with a “Don’t go to bed yet” tweet on February 1.
