It’s been an exciting Monday for Leeds United fans with major new investment in the club.

And the news just gets better as Andrea Radrizzani has confirmed that he is set to open fresh talks with Marcelo Bielsa after selling the 22% stake to the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers now own 37% of the club and, according to Times journalist Martyn Ziegler, paid £50m for the new shares in the club.

Radrizzani believes that Leeds can now go on to challenge the Premier League’s top six and, according to the Times, has said he “will open talks with the head coach Marcelo Bielsa to stay on next season.”

Money is important in the Premier League but we think Bielsa is priceless, so this is a Radrizzani masterstroke.

In an interview in the Times Radrizzani went on to say, “Marcelo is a man of his word, he doesn’t need a contract and we decide year by year because obviously he’s far from home, he couldn’t decide to stay longer in the Championship and at the same time especially in a year with Covid we need to respect the circumstances and decide in the right time.

“It is our intention to continue with him and we will open a discussion with him when he’s ready to do so, but at the moment Marcelo is very focused on each game so I don’t know if he’s really caring about his own future as he’s so analytic and focused on his job.

“I am ready to talk when he is, we have a continuous relationship and there’s a lot of respect and understanding between us.”

It’s a Monday that just keeps on giving for Leeds fans.

First, the news that Frank Lampard has been sacked by Chelsea.

This was followed by news of the new investment from the 49ers. And now the news about fresh talks for Bielsa.

It means that money is in place to ensure the Bielsa revolution can continue and we think keeping Radrizzani at the top and Bielsa as manager is key to our successful future.

Leeds are where they are because of these two… and some transfer expertise from Victor Orta.

It would be incredible if Bielsa was to announce he was staying on early but, to be honest, we don’t really expect an announcement before the end of the season, talks or no talks.

Bielsa left us waiting all summer for the news that he would be staying on in the Premier League.

He announced it shortly before the first fixture of the season against Liverpool.

He’s a manager who cares more about football than contracts and his relationship with Radrizzani seems as strong as ever.

We know he won’t stay forever but another season would be amazing.

It’s a very good time for Leeds off the pitch. Three points on it against Newcastle tomorrow would be the cherry on top.
