Reported Leeds United target Noa Lang's agent reveals why his client didn't leave Club Brugge
The agent of reported Leeds United target Noa Lang has revealed that the 22-year-old didn’t want to leave Club Brugge this summer.
The Whites were linked with making a move for the Dutch winger in the last summer transfer window, and had even agreed personal terms [Voetbal Belgie]., but according to Bart Baving, the player didn’t want to leave Belgium
Last season, Lang scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions, but Leeds didn’t make a move to sign him and went for Dan James instead.
Speaking to Het Laaste Nieuws, Baving revealed why Lang stayed at Club Brugge. He said: “Towards the end (of the transfer window), there was concrete interest from several clubs.
“Noa didn’t want to swap this club for any team. And Club Brugge could no longer afford to get rid of Noa in the last few days of the transfer window.”
Leeds miss out on Lang but get James.
There is no question that Leeds were interested in Lang; however, it is very clear that he was below James on the list, and as soon as the Welshman became available, the Whites made their move.
This meant that one potential destination for Lang was taken away, although apparently, he wanted to stay and play for Brugge.
The winger had been described as a “phenomenon” by Peter Vandenbempt, so we can see why Leeds might have wanted to sign him, but we think that James will prove to be a better signing in time [Eleven Sports 11/04/2021 via Live Football On TV].
The Whites have chased the 23-year-old for two and a half years, and he has racked up a decent amount of Premier League experience, so we can see him proving to be an excellent signing.
Lang is a good player with a bright future, but we would be surprised if Leeds made a move for him in the near future as Marcelo Bielsa has three quality wingers.
