Report: PSG want to sign Leeds target Nicolas Nkoulou, relationship compromised
Leeds United have been joined in the race to sign Torino defender Nicolas Nkoulou by Paris Saint-Germain, according to Torino Granata.
It is suggested on their website that the Cameroon enforcer is affordable and reliable, with his relationship compromised with the club president Cairo.
Other clubs such as Porto, Lyon and Monaco are also mentioned in what is set to be a busy summer for the soon-to-be free-agent.
Marcelo Bielsa worked with Nkoulou during their time together at Marseille, and would clearly want a reunion moving forward.
Tuttosport reported recently that the Whites were getting serious, and have made offers that are being considered by his entourage.
Nkoulou clearly as a history of not getting along with the clubs he is at, and this breakdown in communications should serve as a warning to Leeds.
Bielsa may admire the experienced defender, but without guarantees that he would start at Elland Road, it may not be the best of moves.
Drop out of the race.
It has been a fragile season at the back for Leeds, who have been hit with their own injury crisis to numerous players.
Thankfully, Gaetano Berardi, Robin Kock and Pascal Struijk have all returned in the past week with Diego Llorente also stringing together some starts.
Struijk may have started way more games than we expected this season, and he has proved that he is a perfect squad player moving forward.
Liam Cooper is currently out with a sickness bug, but once he returns, Bielsa will finally have every one of his defenders available to finish the Premier League season.
Should that continue into next season, Nkoulou isn’t needed in West Yorkshire.
