Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Sampdoria star Mikkel Damsgaard, according to the Daily Star.
He has been turning heads in Serie A and as a result has a whole host of Premier League sides after him.
Leeds are reportedly keen, as are Southampton, West Ham and Tottenham.
Leeds and Spurs have contacted Sampdoria about him.
The exciting 20-year-old – who signed for Sampdoria in September for a fee close to £6m – is a winger who can also play in midfield or up-front and is getting ‘rave reviews’ from scouts.
He is expected to almost triple his money for Sampdoria who now rate him at £15m.
They’re braced for offers in the summer after the Star claims that scouts have been “raving about him ever since” his debut for Denmark in November when he provided an assist in a 2-0 win.
Young, progressive option
Mikkel Damsgaard can play as a striker, a winger and a midfielder and at 20-years-old is in that perfect space to be moulded into a star of the future by Bielsa.
One thing that Leeds fans might not approve of is that he grew up as a Man United fan.
Hopefully, that won’t put him off a dream move to Leeds where we can educate him in the ways of British football.
It does seem like he’s a player on a lot of teams’ minds.
Inter Milan were looking at making an offer for him in the January window but nothing materialised.
We are expecting Leeds to strengthen in the summer and we’re also expecting them to be looking at progressive, young signings.
Damsgaard fits that bill and the Bielsa project at Leeds should interest a 20-year-old.
His versatility makes him perfect for Bielsa, who loves to have a small squad and use players in different positions.
