Report: Leeds could exploit ‘excellent’ relationship to secure cut-price Nandez deal
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Uruguay international midfielder Nahitan Nandez before and the latest report suggests that a deal could be progressing.
Calciomercato claims that Leeds have decided that Nandez is a player they want to sign this summer.
The report claims that Andrea Radrizzani and Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini have an “excellent” relationship and that he’s willing to sell the versatile player for less than his release clause which stands at £31.1m.
Centotrentuno had previously reported that Leeds were set to make a £26m offer for the player as soon as the season ended and that Cagliari had an imperative to sell players to raise money.
Nandez has played in central midfield and on the right-wing in 32 appearances in Serie A last season. He is said to have been the most important Cagliari player as they played their way out of trouble to finish 16th in the table.
Versatility key for Leeds
The versatility of Nandez sets him out as a player who could really thrive in this Leeds side.
He’s played on the right wing, on both sides of midfield and as a central and attacking midfielder this season.
In his 35 caps for Uruguay, he’s played right across the midfield and he would give Marcelo Bielsa real options next season.
Leeds have been linked with him for a long time.
They were reported to have made an offer for him last summer and are now seemingly back in for the 25-year-old.
That age puts him in the right bracket for Leeds players too and fans will love his firey nature – he picked up eight yellow cards this season after getting his most ever in a campaign – 14 – the season before.
