The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has claimed that an injury to Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier could cause a crisis at Elland Road.

Kiko Casilla still has six games left on his racism ban in the Championship, and that leaves the young Frenchman as the only senior option available to Marcelo Bielsa.

Meslier made his league debut in the 4-0 victory against Hull City before making it consecutive clean-sheets against Huddersfield.

Smyth has claimed there will be a fear over the fitness of Meslier, with no other stopper having made a senior appearance at the club.

"Being without key players for key games might quickly change some minds on how feasible and appropriate it is to play out the remaining games," he wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"The thought of Illan Meslier suffering any kind of ailment or injury is enough to remove sleep as an option for anyone of a Leeds persuasion."

Smyth certainly has a great point here. Meslier still isn't an experienced option, having only made three appearances for the Whites this season.

Should he pick up an injury or something along those lines, Bielsa would have to throw his trust in yet another young goalkeeper at such a critical point of the season.

Caprile has cemented his spot in the under-23s, with Kamil Miazek looking like he is heading to the exit door - the young Italian could yet still play a part this season.
