Leeds United fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that young Legia Warsaw left-back Michał Karbownik could head to Elland Road for next season.

According to Polish journalist Tomasz Smokowski, as quoted by Sport.PL, Manchester City are in the hunt to sign Karbownik, 19, but are planning to send him on loan to Elland Road.

It is understood that Leeds and Man City are working together to bring the Poland Under-19 international to England because the Whites want him but cannot afford him.

Smokowski reported: “It would be a transfer on the principle: buy him, rent him to Leeds, and if he works out we will take him.”

Brazilian right-back Yan Couto has also been linked with Leeds in a similar way because the Whites were eyeing up the young Cortiba defender before it was agreed he would head to Man City on a permanent basis in the summer for over £13million.

Leeds, obviously, are not going to spend that money while they’re still a Championship club but Couto might yet head to Elland Road on loan.

This Karbownik story is a similar one and Leeds have been keen on Polish players in recent seasons with Kamil Miazek, Mateusz Bogusz and first-team star Mateusz Klich all joining them while Victor Orta’s been director of football.

But are Leeds fans happy with the possibility of Karbownik joining on loan from Man City?

Here is a selection of their tweets:

As you can see, it’s a mixed bag of reactions.

Some fans don’t want the club to rely on loanees but if there’s a permanent deal on the cards, why not press on and sign him?
