'Really demanding' - Leeds star claims rarely-used ace can be 'crucial'

The ongoing debate at Leeds United surrounding Eddie Nketiah and Patrick Bamford has clearly come to an end in the past couple of months.

It has changed from who should Marcelo Bielsa choose to whether or not he will even have Nketiah to choose at all beyond January.

Suggestions of him being recalled from Elland Road continue to get stronger [Daily Mail], as he once again featured for the under-23s on Monday – scoring twice in a 5-1 demolition of Bolton.

Bamford himself has commented on the situation surrounding his fellow forward, claiming that he wants the Arsenal loanee to remain in West Yorkshire till the end of the season.

“I think it is crucial as the Championship is a really demanding league,” he told the Yorkshire Post.

“There are going to be times where there are three games in a week and it is going to be tough and you are going to need those other options to bring on and sometimes, games might demand different things.”

We are still yet to see Bielsa use the two strikers together at Elland Road, and while that is unlikely to happen – injuries and scheduling will surely see Nketiah get another chance to start.

Bamford is spot on with his verdict, there will be a time where his fellow forward will need to be called upon to share the workload.

Nketiah was much more like his usual self on Monday at the Lancashire FA Stadium, and finally showed signs of rediscovering the form that he was in at the beginning of the season.

He fought for every ball and was a constant thorn in the side of their defence every time he was in possession in the final third – the sort of thing Leeds fans have been begging to see ever since he returned from injury.
