Tim Sherwood has labelled Leeds United forward Rodrigo as “Fantastic” after his start to life at Elland Road this season.
The Spaniard became the Whites’ club-record signing after they spent £27million on the former Valencia man in the summer.
Rodrigo scored his first goal against Manchester City last time out in the 1-1 draw, and Sherwood admitted it was the perfect gift.
Sky Sports pundit, Sherwood, believes that Marcelo Bielsa is letting his striker settle and has backed him to succeed after he does.
“Fantastic,” he labelled the Spaniard on Soccer Saturday (17/10 14:37 pm).
“He comes on and it’s a dream. This boy’s got ability, he’s already had a taste of the Premier League with Bolton many years ago.
“He’s got good movement, he’s not a number nine – he drifts off the wide positions out too him, but he’s going to be a real threat.
“Bielsa is just letting him settle into the Premier League.”
Rodrigo has been superb in the last two games against Sheffield United and Manchester City, showing signs of the world-class player we expected.
After a slow start in the opening two games, the 29-year-old has managed six shots on goal in his last 79 minutes of action according to WhoScored.
As well as that, he has managed two key passes – stats that back up Sherwood’s points about his preferred role at Elland Road.
We expect Rodrigo to come into the starting XI against Wolves behind Patrick Bamford, and it will be a real opportunity to see him shine after finally settling in at Leeds.
