‘Real test’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts winner in Leeds clash v Leicester
Mark Lawrenson has backed Leeds United to pick up all three points against Leicester at Elland Road on Monday evening.
The BBC pundit has predicted that the Whites will win 2-1, heaping praise on Patrick Bamford for his hat-trick against Villa.
Leicester had a trip to Greece on Thursday evening, beating AEK Athens 2-1 in their Europa League Group G clash.
Writing in his BBC Sports predictions column, Lawrenson backed Leeds to pick up yet another win against the Foxes.
“This is a real test for Leicester,” he wrote.
“The Foxes got a great win over Arsenal last weekend, with Jamie Vardy looking electric when he came on, but the Gunners don’t play with the same intensity as Leeds.
“Leeds will still have to deal with Vardy, of course, but they have got Patrick Bamford banging in the goals too. His hat-trick against Aston Villa was absolutely top drawer.”
It will definitely be a tough test for both clubs on Monday.
Leeds lost their last home game against similar opposition in Wolves and will want to get their second win at Elland Road this season.
Leicester have been impressive away from home though, beating both Arsenal and Manchester City away from the King Power already this season.
The Whites will have the advantage of no European games too, and that could have a big effect on the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison, who have both suffered from injuries recently.
Should those two struggle with their recoveries after the trip to Greece, it could be a massive boost for Leeds, who could have the likes of Liam Cooper back.
