RB Salzburg could sell Leeds United target Aaronson if they sign replacement this week
Red Bull Salzburg replacing Leeds United target Brenden Aaronson could be seen as a willingness to sell in the summer, according to LeedsLive.
The report claims that the next six days could be key in terms of shaping Leeds’ summer transfer activity.
As the window is still open in Austria, Salzburg could look to sign an attacking midfielder before being in a comfortable position to cash in on the United States international in the summer.
All eyes on Austria
Leeds are a club that like to operate like the elite clubs in more ways than they would like to admit.
If the chances of signing their primary targets diminish, seldom do they look at alternatives.
While it may work for the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, it often does not for a club of Leeds’ stature.
Fighting relegation, they needed an attacking midfielder in January and did all they can to sign the 21-year-old from Salzburg.
However, after two bids rejected, they gave up hopes of signing him and did not venture elsewhere for a stopgap option.
Ideally, they could’ve looked for a loan deal that would give them that X-Factor until the end of the season.
However, now all they can do is monitor Salzburg’s transfer activity and see if they’re signing a replacement so that they can rekindle their interest for Aaronson in the summer.
